West Ham had a point from Old Trafford, but lost 0:1 on a goal from Marcus Rashford. Tomas Soucek had a goal with a few minutes to go, but missed.

Cristiano Ronaldo had the first chance to score in the ninth minute, but only hit the wall from a direct kick. In the 20th minute, Bruno Fernandes sent a dangerous cross into the box, but Ronaldo just missed it.

It was primarily a tactical battle from both sides, with the home side being more active, but not handling situations well in the final stages. Just before the break, Manuel Lanzini got into a good position in the whitewash, but the ideal moment to shoot was missed.

The first shot on target came in the 50th minute when Fred’s shot was parried by goalkeeper Alphonse Areola. On the other side, Jarrod Bowen took a dangerous shot, his right foot brushing the ball against the side netting.

After twenty minutes without a chance, Michail Antonio had a shot in the penalty area, but it was just wide of the target. Tomas Soucek could have broken the game open in the 87th minute, but his header just missed the back post.

The substitute Anthony Martial had another shot, but the goalkeeper made a good save. In the last minute, Edinson Cavani found Marcus Rashford in front of an empty net and he made the save. Manchester won 1: 0.

With three points, the Red Devils moved into fourth place ahead of West Ham, who are now fifth.
