The transfer of Yira Sora was probably the most talked about transfer during the Fortuna Liga winter transfer window. Ubong Ekpai and thirty million crowns went to Banik for the speedy Nigerian.
The coaching staff prepared the best possible conditions for Sor to make his debut in the starting line-up. In attack, the Sešiovans started with two Nigerians, with Peter Olayinka running alongside Sor and the experienced all-rounder guarding the reinforcement from Silesia.
“It was like playing on the pitch with my older brother. He talked to me about tactics, choice of position, what to do, what not to do, how to use my strengths. How to run behind the defense and not be offside. He helped me a lot and I took advantage of it, ” Sor told the club’s website.
Sor troubled the home defensive line from the start. Slavia’s often ineffective crosses behind the defence made sense, with the agile winger running down almost every ball and, most importantly, he was there for Slavia’s second and third goals.
But after 65 minutes he ran out of strength and twice the game was interrupted due to his cramp. In the 85th minute he left the match on a stretcher, and 18-year-old Filip Horský, a Slavie alumnus, got the chance instead.
“Yes, I had muscle cramps because I was sprinting so much. I made a lot of runs. And towards the end of the game I had cramps in my legs, ” continued the Nigeria youth international.
The Red and Whites have everything in their hands ahead of the rematch. They only need a draw in the home rematch, plus they will have about a thousand fans in their back yard. Moreover, the Turkish clubs are in much worse form on their away pitches.
Slavia will not only be playing for promotion, another win would help considerably with regard to the coefficient, where the Czech Republic is still thinking about the fifteenth place guaranteeing five teams in the European Cups. Denmark is currently in that position.
“We are leading 3:2, but away goals don’t count in the European Cups anymore. We have to continue to perform well, stay focused, play as a team and keep the positive energy. I think if we play the same way we can beat them at home, ” Sor added.
