Pep Guardiola is undoubtedly one of the best coaches of our time, and he has proven that this season. And apart from Real Madrid, any club would be happy to welcome him on the bench. Claudio Ranieri, for example, believes that we will see the Spanish strategist in Italy sooner or later. Does he mean that Guardiola would target winning league trophies in all the Top 5 European leagues?

Three La Liga titles, three Bundesliga titles and now Guardiola has added a third Premier League title. On top of that, of course, he’s won several other titles, plus he’s twice been named the best coach in the world (2008 and 2010)

His football entertains the spectators, he gets results almost immediately after joining the club and moreover, his teams manage to keep them throughout his tenure. This is evidenced by the fact that no club has perhaps ever wanted to get rid of Guardiola in his entire career.

The 50-year-old coach is currently under contract with Manchester City until 2023 and it is to be expected that sooner or later he will be looking for a new challenge. This is exactly what Ranieri confirmed during his latest interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Serie A is witnessing the return of Mourinho, Allegri and maybe even Sarri, which will certainly raise the level of the whole Serie A. It is a great pity that Conte left Inter, but I believe that Guardiola will come to Italy to coach sooner or later, ” revealed the Italian coach, who led Leicester to the league title in England.

But Ranieri is also aware that Italy has fallen a lot in football in recent times and the road back to the elite will not be easy.

“But there is one thing we have to do as soon as possible. We have to speed up the pace of the game. If we don’t do that, it will be very difficult for us to be competitive,” the highly experienced Italian coach concluded the interview.

The return of the two aforementioned coaches is undoubtedly a great start for Serie A. At the very least, it will give the Italian league a little more attention.

And will the fans there see Mourinho vs. Guardiola again? Ranieri may have been alluding in the interview to the fact that the Spanish coach might have his sights set on winning all the league trophies in the Top 5 European leagues first and foremost, which if he does in Italy, should be a mere formality in France.

However, Guardiola has also previously let it be known on several occasions that he does not want to coach at a professional level until retirement and will either enjoy his free time or return to Barcelona’s academy. Given the demands of the coaching craft, no one could blame him.
