Someone has put a curse on us, de Gea has no other explanation for Manchester United’s poor performance

Manchester United’s woes seem to have no end in sight, and even long-time mainstay David de Gea is starting to believe in voodoo. No big changes are expected this season yet, but the summer looks set to offer big things again.

Ralf Rangnick will be playing his 13th game on the Red Devils bench on Saturday against Southampton, having tasted only 2 defeats with his charges so far, one of which came on penalties when Manchester United fell short to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.

However, it must be added that Rangnick and co. have been lucky to have easy opponents, as of the 10 opponents they have encountered during their 12 games so far, West Ham have clearly been the strongest. Much of the Red Devil’s struggles have come at Aston Villa. We must also mention Wolves, who have inflicted their only league defeat so far.

However, as many of you know, Manchester United’s problems are much longer lasting. The biggest one, however, is that after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, it has been impossible to find a capable coach on the bench to build on the legendary Scot’s success.

Rangnick, meanwhile, apparently didn’t come to Manchester for this task himself, although it doesn’t mean his end at Old Trafford, only a change of function, but at the end of the season we will see a new face who will hopefully already meet the expectations of the management and especially the fans of the club.

That hero should be either Mauricio Pochettino or Rangnick’s lauded Erik ten Hag, who is doing a great job at Ajax.

But how does de Gea, who has been at the club since 2011, view Manchester United’s performance so far?

“I think someone has put a curse on us or something. People ask me all the time, we discuss it with my teammates and we always come to the point where we say we don’t know what’s going on with us. We should have been fighting for many more trophies, more valuable trophies, but I just don’t know why this team is not working,” de Gea let himself be heard in an interview with El País.

As mentioned in the introduction and hinted at in the January transfer market, Rangnick is aiming to win the Champions League for Manchester United next year. After that, he can be expected to hand over to a new coach and everyone will work together to make the Red Devils a great machine again, winning one trophy after another.

But fans have heard this fairy tale and grand plans many times over the past few years…
