Sold out! Maximum number of fans will support Sparta against Rapid
It is not surprising news, but it will surely please Spartan footballers preparing for tonight’s rematch of the Champions League second preliminary round. After the impressive atmosphere in Vienna, they can now look forward to being welcomed by the maximum number of spectators on home soil.
It is not surprising news, but it will surely please Spartan footballers preparing for tonight’s rematch of the second round of the Champions League. After the impressive atmosphere in Vienna, they can now look forward to being welcomed by the maximum number of spectators on home soil.
“Part of the reason we play this football is to be able to experience such an atmosphere on the pitch,” said Ladislav Krejci Jr. after the opening encounter in Vienna, where 19,500 people propelled Rapid to victory. They created an overwhelming experience for the players after a year and a half during which hardly anyone made it into the stands.
Spartans can now look forward to something similar. Due to government measures, half of the stadium’s capacity, which in the case of Prague’s Letná stadium is a full nine thousand, may attend the rematch.
On the day of the match, about an hour and a half before noon, despite the highly criticized price of tickets for the match, which for those without a season ticket went up to the range of 890 – 1190 crowns, the club announced that it was sold out!
“Hopefully it will help that the fans will drive us in the home game,” Krejci sighed before the rematch. Now he knows that not a single seat, at least of those that can be filled, will remain empty.
Will the Spartan fans create the same raucous atmosphere tonight (the match starts at 20:30) as the Viennese fans did a week ago, and will they propel their favourites to the victory necessary to advance further?
