For several days after the final Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, there has been a lot of speculation in the media across the world about whether Hamilton will leave the world of Formula 1 or not.

That speculation took a hit when the seven-time world champion even stopped following F1 on his Instagram account and completely shut down from social media. However, Hamilton’s younger brother Nicolas has come up with a response of sorts.

The latter, in a statement on Twitch, said that Hamilton is fine, he just took a break from social media.

“Lewis is fine. I think he’s just taking a little break from social media, which I certainly don’t blame him for. Social media can be a very toxic place,” Nicolas Hamilton said on Twitch.

After all, we have seen how much social networks can affect everyday life several times in the past. Nicolas’ opinion has been shared by many sports and film personalities in the past.

However, it is almost certain that the Mercedes driver needed to clear his head and think differently. In fact, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff recently made a similar claim. He said that the events of the last race of the season affected not only Hamilton, but the whole team.

While the Italian edition of the Motorsport website came up with the claim that Hamilton will continue his career, Bernie Ecclestone (former F1 boss) thinks otherwise. According to him, even though Hamilton has a valid contract and a seat secured, he will not stay in Formula 1 and will be doing something completely different.

Mercedes also said in a recent statement that it hoped Hamilton would not retire. This has also attracted a lot of media interest and is one of the main reasons why we are still seeing constant speculation.

Finally, it should be noted that the 36-year-old Briton has a contract with Mercedes that doesn’t expire until the end of the 2023 season. And there is one important factor to consider – Hamilton still has a solid chance of winning his eighth and record-breaking title.
