Smith on McGregor: It pisses me off that he can pop out of the test program, dope up and then come back in
It’s been more than sixteen months since Conor McGregor’s last fight. The Irishman now wants to return, but there is speculation about possible doping. This has been further fuelled by his rival Anthony Smith, who has given his opinion on the situation.
It’s been more than sixteen months since Conor McGregor’s last fight. The Irishman now wants to return, but there is speculation about possible doping. This has been further fuelled by Anthony Smith, who has given his opinion on the situation.
The last fight with Dustin Poirier did not go well for the Irishman. Conor McGregor was seriously injured and there was a long layoff ahead. It is now slowly coming to an end.
However, McGregor did come out of the anti-doping program during the break, which drew a huge amount of reaction. In addition, speculation about doping has begun to surface.
These are also fuelled by the health of the Irishman, who has gained weight significantly and, according to many, has recovered too quickly. One of his critics is Anthony Smith.
“The fact that he withdrew from the USADA testing program bothers me tremendously. There’s only one reason you would do that. He looks very puffed up.
You see videos all the time of him posing in front of mirrors and screaming that he’s huge. He healed really fast. Like, really fast. Chris Weidman still hasn’t really recovered from his broken leg. I talked to Weidman today. He’s still having some problems with it.
He’s still trying to get back, but it’s not going well. Anderson Silva took a long time, too. Everybody who’s broken their leg has been slow to come back. Conor seems to have recovered pretty quickly.
It just pisses me off that he can jump out of the testing program, dope up on whatever he’s got in him, and then go back into the testing program and no one gives a shit? I don’t know. It’s weird. This bothers me,” Smith said.
McGregor himself has already objected to the accusation, saying that everything was pre-arranged and set up. The explanation could be that he simply didn’t want to go through unnecessary checks, which are not pleasant.
