Slovakian champion Slovan Bratislava made it through their opening home game against Shamrock Rovers and will travel to Ireland with a 2-0 lead. Both goals were scored by Brazilian Ratao.
Dinamo Zagreb also confirmed their role as favourites in their match against Valur Reykjavík (3: 2), Ludogorets against Shakhtar Salihorsk from Belarus (1: 0) and Malmö defeated Riga FC from Latvia 1: 0.
In perhaps the most interesting pairing, Norway’s Bodo Glimt fell to Legia Warsaw 2: 3. Tomáš Pekhart did not take part in the match, of course, as he is off after the Euro with the Czech national team.
In the match of two outsiders between Welsh Connah’s Quay and Armenian Alashkert, there was no winner (2::2), while Albanian Teuta Durrës failed to beat Moldovan Sherif Tiraspol 0::4.
In the last two pairs, Maccabi Haifa (Israel) and Kajrat Almaty (Kazakhstan) drew 1: 1, and Georgian Dinamo Tbilisi unexpectedly fell to Neftçi Bakuz of Azerbaijan 1: 2.
The return matches are scheduled for next Tuesday, with the eventual qualifiers already knowing their next opponents.
