Twenty-four-year-old Slovak goalkeeper Dominik Greif is facing a new challenge. This is because for the first time he will play for a club other than ŠK Slovan Bratislava. The native of Bratislava is now transferring to RCD Mallorca, who secured promotion to La Liga last season.
Last season Greif played a total of 27 games for Slovan, scoring 23 goals and keeping 12 clean sheets. Greif has performed well not only in Slovakia, but also in European competitions.
That is why the Spanish club chose him and was not afraid to sign the Slovak goalkeeper to a five-year contract, which should keep him at the club until 30 June 2026.
Spanish club RCD Mallorca paid €2.50 million for their new goalkeeper. Ivan Kmotrík, Slovan’s general director, also commented on the Slovak goalkeeper’s departure, saying the following.
“First of all, I would like to thank Dominik Greif for everything he has done for Slovan and I wish him nothing but the best in his future career. We appreciate his contribution to the club at a time when he was an important part of the team and a mainstay even in European cups. We know well what the last few months have been like, but there is no point in dwelling on them now.”
“Our goal was to go into the new season with players who want to fight for Slovan and are eager to fulfil our goals. We were still registering interest from Dominik’s side to leave, so the priority was to find the best possible solution for all parties. As we have already announced, we are ready to talk about sales, so we can compensate for the losses of the last year.”
“We are happy that we have found an agreement with the Spanish side and the transfer has been successfully implemented. We can look ahead to the new season with players who want to be here and want to achieve something in our jersey.”
