Slovakia had one last chance to fight for promotion against Spain, but they were totally burnt out and got beaten 0::5. Spain won their way to the eight finals.
Before the match against Slovakia, Spain was in real danger of being eliminated from the tournament. If they had not beaten our neighbour, it would have been the end of the tournament for them. With this in mind, they also entered the match, as is the Spanish tradition, holding the ball a lot, which resulted in the first excitement in the Slovakian whitewash.
Already in the 10th minute Koke was fouled in the penalty area, the referee did not whistle the penalty at first. However, after subsequent consultation with VAR, he changed his decision and ordered a penalty kick. Álvaro Morata took the penalty, but Martin Dúbravka stopped his attempt with an amazing save.
Dúbravka went from hero to zero in 20 minutes. He was a hero after the penalty, but in the 30th minute he unfortunately scored his own goal after a Sarabia shot.
But the Spaniards weren’t content with a one-goal lead and pressed on. Moreno’s centre found Laporte in first half stoppage time to make it 2-0.
In the second half, the Slovaks tried to change things, but to no avail. In the 56th minute, Sarabia took advantage of Alba’s cross into the penalty area to make it 3: 0.
In the 66th minute, Ferran Torres took the field and showed why a minute later. He pounced on Sarabia’s cross and headed it into the net.
Another useful substitution came in the 71st minute. Midfielder Pau Torres came on and scored just a minute later. He headed Laporte’s header into the net, his attempt was knocked into the net by Kucka and it was 5: 0 for Spain.
In the 81st minute, Pedri challenged Alba with a through ball, but Torres just missed his shot. That’s all that happened in this match.
Slovakia are out of the tournament, only a miracle of a comfortable Portuguese defeat by 4 or more goals would save them. Spain, on the other hand, is promoted from second place because of the Swedish win and still has to wait for their opponent.
