Slovakia’s recent national team meetings have not gone well, instead of a clear promotion, they have ironically played for salvation in the third performance group of the Nations League. Now, however, its mainstays are in better shape, plus the squad is filled with young talent.
Luxembourg also participated in the third group and fought bravely. Although the better side was the sovereign Turkey and celebrated a clear promotion, on the other hand the Luxembourgers lost only once out of six confrontations.
Slovakia’s key figures
Central midfielder Stanislav Lobotka is having the season of his life in Naples, not for nothing he has signed a new contract with the first team of the table until 2027. Sparta winger Lukas Haraslin, author of seven goals and six assists, is in great health.
Luxembourg’s key figures
Twenty-three-year-old midfielder Leandro Barreiro is a regular for Mainz and is also quite productive (2+4).
The more defensive-minded Christopher Martins Pereira scored three times and assisted three times for Spartak Moscow.
The Slovaks have a very good defensive line, of course, thanks to the long term good form of David Hanck and Milan Škriniar. They have only scored more than once in three of their last nine games.
Luxembourg, on the other hand, cannot rely on their defence, having scored more than once in four of their last six games. They received an average of 2.25 goals per round in their last World Cup qualifier, which is a big exclamation point.
Considering the excellent individual form of the Slovak team’s mainstays, the home environment factor, and the passable defensive performance of the visitors, Slovakia can be expected not to falter at the start of the qualifiers.
