Slovácko will play Partizan Belgrade in the first match of the European Conference League. The Moravian side played great football in the double-header with AIK Stockholm, so can they repeat this performance and take the first three points in the group table?

The team from Uherské Hradiště has played only four games in the cups so far this season – two against Fenerbahce and two against AIK Stockholm.

Against the Turkish team, however, it was a Europa League preliminary round. Slovácko lost 0:3 to Fenerbahce, drew 1:1 at home and was thus doomed to fight in the Conference League.

In the last preliminary round, Martin Svedik’s charges were waiting for AIK Stockholm, and they defeated the Swedish team 3:0 at home. Slovácko also outplayed AIK, winning 1:0 to secure their safe qualification to the group stage of the Conference Europa League.

Slovácko was subsequently assigned to Group D, where they will face Nice, Cologne and Partizan Belgrade. However, the Moravian team did not do well in the last league matches. In the fifth round Slovácko lost to Liberec 1:2, then lost in Plzeň 0:3 and lastly drew at home with Slavia 1:1.

However, Slovácko showed good defensive performance against Slavia, which coach Svědík will want to carry over into the match against Partizan. It is a big question whether the team from Uherské Hradiště will be able to imitate their performance against AIK. Moreover, it will be the first test of the year in the regular group of the Conference League.

Partizan is currently seventh in the Serbian top flight with 15 points. But that’s also because all of the higher ranked opponents have either one or two more games to play. Similarly to Slovácko, the Belgrade side dropped out of the Europa League when they failed to beat AEK Larnaca.

Thus, in the last preliminary round, Partizan were waiting for Malta’s Humrun, whom they knocked out 4:1 and 3:3. Moreover, the club’s entry into the new league season did not go well.

In the first round, it won 4:0 against Javor, but then drew three times. The last time Partizan beat Kolubara 5:1.
