Slovácko stopper Hofmann: Maybe we deserved more points, but we have to be grateful for being in Europe

Slovácko has been performing well in the Conference Europa League so far. Coach Martin Svedik’s team has only one point, but if it wasn’t for bad luck, it could have been much more.
Goalkeeper Filip Nguyen had one unlucky moment against Nice. He couldn’t keep hold of Nicolas Pepé’s shot and the ball sailed between his legs and into the net.
“In the first half, the only chance we had was after our turnover in the half, when we scored a brace. In the second two shots, one of which gave us an unlucky goal. If Filip (Nguyen) had at least put it in front of him, I might have kicked it away. Unfortunately, it slipped by him.
I guess even Pépé didn’t expect it to end up in the net. We had a lot of pressure at the end. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to equalise,” said stopper Stanislav Hofmann at the press conference.
Together with Michal Kadlec, they kept Nice’s strikers at bay and they didn’t get many chances. It must be added, however, that Slovácko didn’t have any scoring opportunities either, so a goalless draw would have been deserved.
“We are a newcomer and it seems to me that the referees also take us that way. They give some percentage to the stronger ones. It’s experience for us. Maybe we would have deserved more points, but we have to be grateful to be there,” Hofmann added.
