Slavia will have to do without the injured Lukáš Masopust in the Europa League play-off rematch. The assistant coach Zdeněk Houštecký confirmed this in an interview for the club’s television.
One of the most underrated players in the Czech Fortuna Liga is Lukáš Masopust. A great all-rounder, who rotated four different positions against Legia. He started on the right edge of defence and ended up on the right wing and left back.
He also spiced up his excellent performance with an important goal to make it 2:2 from the first half and it was the second cup match in a row in which he scored. However, there was a complication in the second half.
The national winger was first treated in the 63rd minute, but a few minutes later he signalled towards the bench that it was not going to go any further and was just limping at the tip of the attack. He was replaced by Daniel Samek.
Jindřich Trpišovský said in his post-match interview that he did not see Masopust’s injury as serious. The same words came from the player himself.
“My calf suddenly seized, hopefully it’s nothing serious,” Masopust said.
But it is at least a little serious. The seriousness of the injury was already suggested by Jaroslav Šilhavy’s nomination for the September national team meeting, in which the former Jihlava and Jablonec player was absent. Wednesday’s video on Slavia TV offered more detailed information.
“Lukas injured his calf that game at home against Legia, it’s a muscle injury, so it’s always with a question mark, mainly by feeling. But of course it’s more than a week of absolute rest,” said Zdenek Houštecký.
Slavia will have to cope without their long-time mainstay. Alexander Bah will start at right back, with one of the trio of Abdallah Sima, Ubong Ekpai and Ondřej Lingr likely to play in front of him, but everything will depend on the other offensive positions.
