Conference league
Slavia vs. Union as a great example of European atmosphere. What was there to see?
Thursday’s group stage match of the Conference Europe League offered an excellent atmosphere in addition to four goals. Both fan camps were at their best, especially the visiting one deserves a big compliment.

The fact that a lot of Union fans came to Prague was already indicated by the situation in the centre of the capital a few hours before kick-off. Crowds of Germans in red jerseys were gathering on Národní třída and heading to various pubs.
The Union fans arrived at the Slavie stand about an hour before the match and it was clear from their shouts that they had not just come to watch football. There were so many that they couldn’t fit into the away sector, with at least another five hundred standing next to the Berlin cauldron.
Not to mention those in the VIP section, where there were also dozens of them. All in all, around two thousand fans of last year’s seventh-placed team in the Bundesliga found their way to Sinobo Stadium.
The Berlin ultras supported their players from the very first minute, or rather that is not accurate, as the first pyrotechnics were set off during the pre-match captains’ meeting. And it was quite a show.
The massive support of the away fans continued and did not stop even at 1:3, on the contrary, even ten minutes after the end of the match they were still applauding their players, it almost seemed that they were drowning out the Slavic thanksgiving.
In defence of the home supporters, it is worth mentioning that Tribuna Sever also gave an excellent performance. They deserve special praise for the choreo with the inscription “Always angry Slavia.”
