Prague Slavia will play a key match in the group stage of the Conference Europa League on Thursday. It will welcome the biggest outsider of the group in the form of Maccabi Haifa. What to expect from the Sešiovans?
Slavia cannot be satisfied with the group’s development so far. It has won only one of its first three matches and is only third in the table. On the other hand, it tuned up for an important home game with a win over Viktoria Plzeň.
Maccabi, on the other hand, is unexpectedly prolific. They drew with Feyenoord at home and beat Slavia, so they are second in the group. However, in the weekend’s dress rehearsal they only drew 2-2.
If we look at the form in the last few games, Slavia’s stopper Taras Kacharaba has been performing well. Three goals in the last five games were scored by the healed winger Peter Olayinka.
Omer Atzili is the mainstay of the visitors, the skilful midfielder has already scored ten goals and assisted four times. Winger Dolev Haziza boasts a 5+3 record, while Tjaronn Chery has assisted seven goals in addition to three shots.
Slavia have worked on their poor defensive performance, getting more than one goal in only one of their last six games.
But it will have a tough time against Maccabi, the Israeli champion has scored nine goals in its last four games.
Given the increased confidence after the win over Plzeň and the strength of the home environment, I think Slavia will win and score at least two goals at the same time.
Betting tip l Slavia to win and score at least two goals at odds of 1.81
