Slavia is the last Czech team to enter the European Cup. Its opponent in the third round of the Europa League will be the Ukrainian team Dnipro-1. What to bet on?
After a two-year break, Slavia has a chance to return to the Conference League. First, it failed to beat Legia Warsaw in the preliminary round, playing from the first minute of the rematch without the suspended Holes, and last year, because of the coefficient, it started straight in the Conference League preliminary rounds.
This time, however, winning the Cup guaranteed her a Europa League preliminary round and also gave her a relatively viable path, or at least not an unplayable one. The road to the second European competition goes through Ukrainian teams, first they will play Dnipro-1, in case of promotion they will challenge Zorya Luhansk.
The beginning of the season found Slavia in relatively good shape. First, it beat Hradec Králové 2:0, then after a 3:1 result it knocked off České Budějovice and finally it beat Zlín 2:1.
Dnipro-1 entered the second round of the Champions League, where they first lost 1:3 to Panathinaikos, then drew 2:2 in the rematch and were relegated to the Europa League. In the first match of the Ukrainian league at the weekend, they beat Zhytomyr 2-1.
Before the duel with Slavia, the club lost its leading scorer and biggest star Artem Dovbyk, who scored 32 goals last season.
Slavia is happy with European matches. It is expected that Dnipro-1 would not have to come to Eden with a parked bus, like most teams in the Czech league, and attractive offensive football could be on display.
In particular, Slavia are thriving in Eden and will want to make a nice result for the rematch. Even Dnipro-1 showed in their duel with Panathinaikos that they are a bit weaker defensively, but have great quality offensively. Therefore, we could see at least three goals.
