When Slavia enter the Champions League third round rematch on Tuesday, it will not be just about prestige and glory. It will also be about a very fat sum of money that the Susians can dig up for their club. How much could they possibly collect?

Not for nothing is the Champions League nicknamed the millionaire competition. The sums collected will make many eyes glaze over. Moreover, the amounts are diametrically opposed to the Europa League, which is why the Champions League can heal a club for a few years ahead.

If Slavia advances through Ferencváros to the fourth round of the Champions League, it would secure 8.63 million euros, or roughly 224 million crowns.

If it manages to get through the fourth preliminary round to the basic groups, another 7.01 million euros, roughly 182 million crowns, would land in the offices in Eden.

The bonuses don’t stop there. If the Susians manage to win some points in the group stage, UEFA would continue to send large sums of money. For a win in the Champions League, the club will receive 2.8 million euros (75 million crowns), and for a draw 930 thousand euros (25 million crowns).

Slavia would earn €3.6 million (97 million crowns) for a Europa League start.

So the Reds are playing for a lot against Ferencváros, no wonder the pressure is enormous. But a full stadium should drive them to success and to score at least two goals.
