Slavia has the most expected goals in the whole EKL, averaging 20 shots per game
Football Slavia is still recovering from an unexpected end in the European Conference League. The third place in the table was on the one hand shameful, but at the same time very unfortunate, which can be seen from the statistics after the group stage.
Football Slavia is still recovering from an unexpected end in the European Conference League. The third place in the table was on the one hand shameful, but at the same time very unfortunate, which can be seen from the statistics after the group stage.
The Seškis made it to the Conference League group from the second preliminary round, passing through St. Joseph’s, Panathinaikos and Raków. Subsequently, their cup journey ended with a third place finish in the company of Sivasspor, Cluj and Ballkani.
The surprisingly quick end was due to poor productivity. The Slavs have scored 23 goals since the prelims, but their projected tally stands at 26.64, the most of any team in this year’s EKL. Yet the goals scored statistic is significantly skewed by 11 shots against amateur side St. Joseph’s.
Productivity went down overall in the group, while Panathinaikos and Raków were paradoxically tougher opponents than Sivasspor, Cluj and Ballkani. Both are clearly leading their respective competitions and heading into the Champions League preliminary rounds.
The Red and Whites also dominate in shots (245), which means that they needed almost ten attempts per goal and took an average of 20.4 shots per game. Two crazy numbers, especially compared to previous years in which the Sixers were very productive in the cups.
Slavia’s first place continues in the corners statistic (92, average 7.6 per game), 424 touches in the opponent’s sixteen (35.3 per game) speaks of poor productivity even from good shooting positions.
The glaring numbers only confirm two constantly washed away facts. Putting Stanislav Teclo on the roster for the ECL was a mistake, the Sevilla really need Nicolae Stancio or someone similar to him.
