Slavia: Great system, but goals are missing. Why couldn’t one of the four strikers score?
Slavia pounded the closed defence in the home rematch against Ferencváros, locked their opponent in the penalty area several times, but the desired result did not come. However, if they score only one goal in two games, they can hardly think about success.

Slavia did not play badly in the first game either, but in the second game they were outnumbered. Ferencváros only came to defend the match and unashamedly kicked balls into the box or into the stands. Even so, the Susians failed to score at least two goals.
Jindřich Trpišovský sent four strikers on the field. Stanislav Tecl and Ivan Schranz started in the starting lineup, while Jan Kuchta and Petar Musa came on in the second half. However, neither of them could help their team with a goal or an assist.
Slavia’s style of play is refined. Playing with great intensity with a lot of runs behind the defence, relentless pressing and a clear dominance in the opponent’s half. We saw all this in Eden, only the most important thing was missing – goals. If Slavia had advanced after Tuesday’s performance thanks to two scuffed goals, they would have been boasting again about what a great team they are. Because the game they played really passed the high parameters.
But this way they are talking about a big failure, because the Sešiovans should have clearly advanced despite such an opponent. While in the past years Slavia often had luck that helped them to push the ball into the net, against Ferencváros it seemed to have completely disappeared.
The Slavs bombarded their opponent, trying 21 attempts in total, but none of them caught except Masopust’s tap-in. The Red and Whites had several promising chances, interesting volleys by Stancio and Plavsic, but nothing ended in a goal.
On the other hand, it’s hard to remember a chance when the Slavs were chasing the goalkeeper. Ferencváros’ cloudy style of play forced them to centre balls into the box, which were easily dealt with by the opposition’s tall stoppers.
It’s a great pity that Michael Krmencik, who could have been very useful with his bulldog style, couldn’t come on. However, Slavia had four strikers at their disposal. However, none of them made an impact.
Shooting efficiency in the cups has plagued Slavia since the arrival of Jindřich Trpišovský. This position was first filled by Tomáš Souček, last year the balls were often somehow deflected to Jan Kuchta, but it seems that last year’s luck ran out. The Sevilla team must work on making the elaborate system bear fruit, otherwise the performance is useless.
