Slavia ends in EKL! What does this mean for the Czech coefficient and how does the professional public react?

After the first half in Eden, the hope was still alive and after a quickly conceded goal, the Seychellois were able to draw level at 1:1. However, a rich pressing leading to the longed-for equaliser took the wind out of the Slavs’ sails.
In the second act, Slavia looked exhausted and pulled the short end of the rope, while Feyenoord showed incredible individual quality. Sinisterra and Dessers eventually took advantage of Slavia’s mistakes to send the Dutch side to the semi-finals, where they will face Olympique Marseille.
The saddest man of the match was Slavia’s goalkeeper Ales Mandous, who made a significant contribution to the goal at 1:2, failing to control the play with his feet and greasing the ball to Dessers. He received huge support among the football public and fans.
After the elimination of Slavia, Czech football has not a single representative in Europe, which means that we will not reach the coveted fifteenth place in the national coefficient rankings. The positive news is that all of our competitors have also dropped out. The starting position for the 2022/2023 season will therefore be as follows.
Reaction of the professional community
Seasoned pundits such as Jan Podrouzek and Luděk Mádl took the floor on the quarter-final rematch between Slavia and Feyenoord. However, other football journalists also expressed their opinions.
“Mandous’ mistake was of course the most visible, but it should not be overlooked that the defence did not hold him and the opponent was better in the field. I don’t believe that without that mistake Slavie would have advanced today. Unfortunately. But I can’t blame it on Mandous,” wrote O2 TV Sport journalist Denisa Doležalová on her Twitter account.
“Football is sometimes about mistakes and you just have to make fewer of them than your opponent. Dessers’ finish on the first goal was excellent. At this stage you need a complete team performing at its best. But Slavia played a fantastic season in Europe again,” said Ondrej Zlámal.
