Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Manchester United also because of the wishes of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. How does the former Red Devils manager rate the return of his “lost son” to Old Trafford?
Sir Alex Ferguson was recently a guest on the UTD Podcast, which has Manchester United under its thumb. Many topics were discussed, but the most interesting was the talk about Cristiano Ronaldo, who returned to the place where he became a star after years away.
The legendary Scottish manager likened the Portuguese’s return to Julius Caesar’s triumphant return to Rome. He was also there for his debut against Newcastle, so he was able to enjoy the atmosphere at Old Trafford to the full.
“He sacrificed to be the best. He was born with a huge desire to succeed. His return was fantastic. He came, he saw, he won,” Ferguson commented on the 4-1 debut win over Newcastle.
Ronaldo has so far scored 4 goals in 4 competitive games.
But apart from Ronaldo’s return, the phenomenal Scot also commented on the Portuguese star’s departure to Real Madrid in 2009. I couldn’t be against it. He spent six years with us. I knew how good he would become and that he would succeed in Spain.”
Ferguson sees Real Madrid as a club where I’m sure every player would like to go one day. Indeed, he admires how the Spanish outfit can consistently produce world-class players and how many times it has managed to dominate the Champions League.
But now he can enjoy seeing his favourite shine in the jersey he loves the most.
