The final match of the tournament in Cluj is scheduled for Sunday. It will be hosted by Simona Halep together with Anett Kontaveit. Who will be more successful in their fourth clash and win another WTA title?
Simona Halep is currently ranked 18th in the WTA rankings. In the past, however, the 30-year-old tennis player from Romania was also the best player on the circuit.
Halep is doing very well in her home environment so far. She had to beat Ruse, Grachevava, Cristiano and Kostyuk on her way to the final. She didn’t allow more than six games to any of these opponents.
Anett Kontaveit awaits her in the final. The 25-year-old player from Estonia is currently ranked 14th in the WTA rankings. However, she will move up to number eleven in Monday’s edition of the rankings, which will improve her career high.
The Tallinn native boasts great form. This year she has dominated the events in Cleveland, Ostrava and Moscow. On Sunday, she can add a fourth title and secure her place in the Champions Tournament.
So what to bet on? If we look at the stats of their matches, we see that Halep leads by 3:0. Kontaveit hasn’t managed to win a single set. Now, however, a different course is expected.
The Estonian player is showing fantastic performances, to which we have to add a huge motivation. Although Halep will be able to take advantage of the crowd’s support, she will most likely not be enough for her opponent.
