Sima returns to Brighton for Christmas to soak up the club culture. But he can’t play
Since his summer transfer to England, Abdallah Sima has not been able to get back to the form he showed last year in the Fortuna Liga. He is often plagued by injuries and has only featured in 4 competitive games. Now he returns from Stoke, where he is on loan, to soak up the club atmosphere at Brighton for Christmas.
Sim’s career in the isles hasn’t been going to plan so far. After his move to Brighton, he immediately went on loan to Stoke City but has spent the vast majority of his time on the sidelines.
He has only appeared in two Championship games so far, and has made two appearances in the EFL Cup. He also made one appearance for the U23 team and scored 2 goals. But he didn’t add any more starts in the A-team after that.
But Brighton are definitely not above him. He’s pulling his summer signing in for Christmas to soak up the club culture. This was reported on Twitter by journalist Andy Naylor, who is very close to Brighton.
“Sima is returning to Brighton for Christmas to integrate himself into the club culture, having left immediately for Stoke in the summer. He is expected to return to the Potteries (Stoke) in the New Year. However, he won’t be able to play for Brighton as FIFA rules don’t allow a player to play for more than two teams in the same season (Slavia, Stoke). The ban also applies to under-23 teams,” wrote Naylor.
Stoke were due to play a game against Barnsley on 26 December, but that has been cancelled.
Brighton are due to play Brentford on December 26, then take on Chelsea on December 29. On January 2, The Seagulls will face Everton.
