Jaroslav Šilhavy’s roster for the three September games is being discussed a lot on social media. The public doesn’t understand the non-nomination of Michal Sacek, but also the fact that there is not even one classic spike forward on the list.
The nomination of Ondrej Kolar caused a lot of commotion. The goalkeeper of Slavia has been struggling at the start of the season, he had a big part in Slavia’s end in the Champions League and apart from the last match with Baník he has not played a single game.
The public also doesn’t understand the call-up of Jan Boril, who was one of the few Czech players to disappoint at the summer Euro. Moreover, he has played only one game since the end of the tournament due to injury.
It is also striking that Bořil is the only left back in the team. Theoretically, Aleš Matějů could still be in the mix, but he is primarily a right-back. On the other hand, Šilhavý has three players on the right side, Vladimír Coufal, Milan Havel and Matějů.
Michal Sáček is definitely missing in the midfield. The Spartan midfielder has taken advantage of the absence of Ladislav Krejci Jr. and is putting in a likeable performance, what’s more, he’s probably in the form of his life. Nevertheless, Jaroslav Šilhavý chose one extra defender.
The nomination of Matej Vydra, who played five minutes in the opening two rounds of the Premier League, is also something to think about. Next to him, only Adam Hložek is in the box, so the national team is going to the reunion without a classic top striker.
We will see how the team composed by Šilhava will do in the matches against Belarus, Belgium and Ukraine. The Czech Republic must win at least the first two matches if it wants to think about direct promotion.
