Šilhavý in front of Faroe Islands: They are no pushover, recent matches are proof of that
The Czech national team is scheduled to play a friendly match against Faroe Islands today. The former midget has already beaten Turkey and would like to show his skills against the selection of coach Jaroslav Šilhavy. What did the Czech coach have to say before tonight’s duel?
The Czech national team is scheduled to play a friendly match against Faroe Islands today. The former midget has already beaten Turkey and would like to show his skills against the selection of coach Jaroslav Šilhavy. What did the Czech coach say before tonight’s duel?
The Czechs will not play at the World Cup, so they have two friendlies scheduled. The first one will be against Faroe Islands, who used to be considered midgets, but now they have a certain level.
They are in Group C of the League of Nations, so in the third tier of the competition. In that group they were in a group with Turkey, Luxembourg and Lithuania. But there was no relegation.
Eight points were enough for third place, the Faroese players even beat Turkey in their last game. “They are no pushover, the last matches are proof of that.
They used to score a lot of goals, now they have beaten a strong Turkey, they haven’t lost four games in a row. They are tenacious, with discipline, they defend well,” coach Jaroslav Šilhavy said at the press conference.
It is also interesting that we will play this country twice more next year. The reason is the qualification for the European Championship, where they will be the group favourites together with Poland.
“They will definitely save some signals. We will do the same, the line-up will be a bit different. I don’t see a problem,” he added. In Olomouc in the early evening there will certainly be an interesting line-up, as the nominations have already indicated.
There are many newcomers and players who would not normally make the squad. However, due to the absence of players from the top of the league, coach Šilhavý simply had no choice.
“Nothing can be rehearsed. This game is fast, we knew that. But we didn’t know that the nomination would be put together like this. It’s even worse,” he explained.
Especially in today’s competition we can expect a weaker selection, a stronger line-up will then play Turkey at the weekend. However, predictions are rather useless, anyone can play.
