On Sunday we can look forward to the EURO 2024 qualification draw. The Czech national football team will be in the second basket, so we may not be able to avoid one giant. What did coach Jaroslav Šilhavy say before the draw?
The UEFA Nations League is over and now we can look forward to the EURO qualifiers again, which will be held in nearby Germany in 2024. The qualification draw is scheduled for Sunday.
The draw will kick off at 12 noon in Frankfurt am Main and will be attended by coach Jaroslav Šilhavy and FAČR chairman Petr Fousek.
The Czech team will be in the second basket due to their relegation from Division A of the Nations League, so they may well avoid the giants. However, even France and England will not fit into the first basket.
“I wish for a group that we can manage and from which we will qualify for the final tournament. Advancing will be our clear goal, whatever the composition of our group,” coach Šilhavy told the Czech national team website.
“The strongest opponents are of course waiting in the first basket. If I had to decide who I would like to see in this basket, without underestimating these teams in any way, then maybe Hungary, Switzerland or Poland,” he added.
A total of 53 teams will take part in the qualifiers, with seven groups of five teams and three groups of six. Two teams from each group will advance, while the underdogs will have another chance in the Nations League.
