The Czech national team is facing a crucial match. The national team will face the strong Swiss, who must win to stay in Group A of the UEFA Nations League. What did head coach Šilhavý say before the duel?
” Of course, there are still some sore points. We are sorry how the match went in front of the home crowd. But we can’t fix that now,” Šilhavy said at the press conference.
The defeat meant relegation to last place in the table and a win in the last game against the Swiss was necessary for the Czechs to avoid relegation to Group B. “A draw is not enough, we have to win. We will try to do it, they are a strong opponent, but we will try to make up for the Prague game. We have respect, but we have to play with courage,” said the national team’s head coach.
Midfielder Brabec did not play the match against Portugal due to an injury, Masopust and Jankto also withdrew from the team. ” We had to react, more players arrived. Everyone is ready for the match. We already have the line-up in mind, but we are still talking with the players, both in terms of personnel and the game system.”
The coach also answered a question at the pre-match press conference about how they had evaluated the last game together, “What was important for us in the evaluation was that the players felt the same way. We named our mistakes, we didn’t stone anyone, but we said that we will correct it tomorrow.”
They also remembered the last match played in June in Prague. The Czechs won 2:1. “The Swiss lost their first three matches in the group. But now they played the last matches very well. The team is great and they are rightfully in the first group. But that doesn’t mean that we won’t fight to stay in the group in the last match,” Šilhavy said about the strength of the Swiss team.
The Czech national team will play the match in Switzerland at the stadium in St. Gallen on Tuesday at 20:45. Can our footballers win?
