Shut up, you’re talking nonsense! Rio Ferdinand exploded during the Casemiro debate
Manchester United is undoubtedly the biggest club in England. It hasn’t been the best for a number of years, but that doesn’t detract from its greatness, as evidenced by how much the club is constantly hyped. Club legend Rio Ferdinand, for example, has now exploded when defending summer signing Casemiro.
The big controversy was reignited after the 3-6 drubbing at the Etihad Stadium in the Manchester derby. Erik ten Hag not only didn’t field Cristiano Ronaldo at all, but just left the most high-profile summer signing and one of the best defensive midfielders in the world (if not the best), Casemiro, on the bench.
Thus, a great controversy is burning in England. Why did Manchester United bring him in for 80 million euros in the first place if the Hag only let him sit on the bench? He prefers Scott McTominay, who has been heavily criticised for his performances, over a player of his quality.
The legendary Rio Ferdinand has been invited to the YouTube Vibe with Five with Joel Beya and Stephen Howson. And at times, he couldn’t believe his ears. When he first heard that Casemiro hadn’t done anything yet.
“That Casemiro hasn’t shown his quality? Shut up, you’re talking nonsense! Casemiro is getting the scraps, he hasn’t played once in the PL, he’s coming on for a few minutes. He was the best player in the Champions League final a few months ago and that was the 5th LM trophy he won. He was a mainstay at Real Madrid. Here, they’re giving him the bark. You can’t judge him,” Ferdinand fumed.
“He’s used to getting the ball and having five options of who to pass it to. One of them is Modric, the second is Kroos, the third is Benzema. Now he picks up the ball and doesn’t have those same options. He needs time,” blames the former Red Devils stopper more on the Manchester squad.
No one can really understand what is behind Casemiro’s deployment. For a long time the Red Devils have complained about McTominay’s poor performances, even Hag himself admitted that he could use some reinforcements in the centre of midfield. And when management finally brings in virtually the best defensive midfielder in the world, the Dutchman leaves him on the bench.
Analyst Stephen Howson tried to come up with a possible explanation, saying on the program that Casemiro doesn’t play in the starting lineup because he doesn’t have a good attitude in training.
“You want to tell me that you buy someone who is considered one of the best, if not the best, and you say if he hasn’t trained well, I won’t let him play. What I‘m hearing here is complete bullshit,” Ferdinand added in shock.
