Kevin De Bruyne was supposed to be the driving force for Manchester City against PSG. However, according to the current trend, he should have seen a red card in the 39th minute for his foul. According to fans, his star player status helped him.

The current trend is set that even if a player completely unintentionally but brutally hits an opposing player, it is a red card. This was the case for example with the player Tomas Holes in the match against Legia Warsaw. Aaron Wan-Bissaka of Manchester United has the same experience from the game in Bern.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne couldn’t tame the ball, so he wanted to wrestle it out of a duel with Idrissa Gueye. But although unintentional, he stomped his foot quite brutally, which could have interrupted the Senegalese footballer’s career for quite a long time.

The current trend of judging these interventions is clear. A straight red card. But the referee only drew a yellow card and didn’t even consult the video referee.

Fans are clear it’s because of Kevin De Bruyne’s star name. Most upset were supporters of Manchester United, the Citizens’ rivals. A few weeks ago, Wan-Bissaka was sent off for an almost identical tackle and the Red Devils lost to Bern 1:2.

Manchester City, however, did not even forgive the sending off and lost to the Parisians 0:2. Gueye scored in the first half and Messi added the second goal after the change of sides.
