Shocking confession! Xavi admits more reasons why he decided to leave Barcelona. It’s cruel to coach such a club, he says
Xavi will say goodbye to Barcelona at the end of the current competition year, this is the information that has been circulating around the football world for a few dozen hours. However, the Spanish coach mentioned other details in the press conference before the match against Osasuna.
Xavi will say goodbye to Barcelona at the end of the current competition year, this is the information that has been circulating around the football world for a few dozen hours. However, the Spanish coach mentioned other details in a press conference before the match against Osasuna.
As Xavi admitted a few dozen hours ago, he will leave Barcelona at the end of this season. The reasons are quite obvious. The team is not doing well, the Spanish coach is not getting the results he very likely expected himself to get.
This is the second very surprising news in recent days. Jürgen Klopp will also leave his club at the end of this season and he is tired after nine years at Liverpool.
In Xavi’s case, however, the fact that the Barcelona legend made this decision at the beginning of the season is all the more shocking. The forty-four-year-old coach reminded us of this at Tuesday’s press conference before the match against Osasuna.
However, he added another reason why he decided to resign as head coach of the famous Catalan club. Xavi simply does not feel that his work and that of the entire coaching team is sufficiently appreciated.
Xavi on his reasons for resigning…
“I made the decision to resign at the start of the season,” said Xavi at a press conference just before the match against Osasuna, whose words were also quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
This is a statement that the Spanish coach had already made when the rather shocking news was announced. But now he has admitted another thing, namely that he doesn’t feel appreciated enough at the club.
“The decision to resign was made a long time ago, our work is not sufficiently appreciated. Is it the club, the press or the fans? If you do something with the best of intentions but then nobody appreciates it, it creates frustration. We have endured the pressure for a long time, but now we are in one of the most difficult moments,” he said.
Xavi then added that he is also leaving the position because he himself is a Barcelona fan. He also calls on everyone to be united in these difficult times, thanking the Catalan giant’s supporters in particular for their support.
“Thank Laporta? Always and with my hand on my heart, I am grateful for this chance. But if we don’t appreciate that we have survived even the most turbulent periods, it’s time to say goodbye. So is it cruel to coach Barcelona? It is, if you fail it makes you feel like you’re not worth it. Back in the day, when I spoke to Pep, Ernesto or Luis Enrique, I couldn’t imagine anything like that. Now I have experienced it myself,” Xavi concluded.
