Well, nobody expected this. Manchester United took on Brighton on Saturday. Despite their poor form, they were the favourites. However, the home team won 4:0.

Shock, fantasy, sensation… It depends on one’s point of view. Manchester United fans, however, will probably feel the frustration and despair. Their favourites surprisingly fell 0-4 at Brighton.

Brighton played a really great game, they are having a successful season, presenting attractive and attractive football, mathematically, thanks to this win, they still have at least a minimal chance of making it to Europe.

Manchester United, however, have it completely backwards. This is their fifth away loss in a row, their worst record since 1981. Furthermore, the Red Devils have never won fewer points in the modern Premier League than they can get this season. They are now on number 58 with one game to play. The minimum so far has been on 64 points.

But that’s not all. In the history of the Premier League Manchester United have never scored as many goals as they have this season (56), the maximum so far has been 54. The wins column will also see a historic low, the minimum so far has been 18 wins, currently the Red Devils have 16 wins.

Ralph Rangnick’s charges are, among others, the first team to score four goals in one season against Brighton and Watford. What’s more, a blow may come in the form of the worst finish since the Premier League was formed.

Manchester United have never finished worse than seventh. It is currently sixth and has a mathematical chance of being leapfrogged by West Ham and Wolves.

It’s worth noting then that in the game against Brighton, the lowest-rated player was goalkeeper David De Gea, who earned a 4.91 rating from WhoScored. Cristiano Ronaldo earned the second worst rating (5.49), while no other player was rated below 5.5.
