She didn’t expect it to go this far? The Ukrainian tennis player reached the Wimbledon eight-finals with other plans
The current 76th player in the WTA world rankings is not among the favourites to win Wimbledon. Evidently, Elina Svitolina herself did not have much confidence in such a success. The second week hasn’t even started yet and the Ukrainian originally had completely different plans before her next match.

The second week hasn’t even started yet and the Ukrainian originally had completely different plans before her next match.
Saturday was marked by the playoffs of the hexagonal finals, but on Sunday the famous Wimbledon will start the eighth-final stage. The Ukrainian Elina Svitolina will be there.
The 28-year-old native of Odessa, who reached the semi-finals of the English Grand Slam in 2019, is doing more than respectable so far. But does she have too much confidence in herself?
Svitolina defeated the legendary veteran Venus Williams in two sets in the first round, beat the favoured Elise Mertens in a three-set battle in the second round and took on Sofia Kenin in the last stage played.
However, just after she knocked out her last opponent after two sets and advanced to the eight-finals, she revealed that she had originally had other plans. On Sunday, she will face a tough duel with Victoria Azarenka, but on Saturday she is still enjoying her day off.
So what were her plans? After winning, she revealed that she was going to attend a concert of her favourite singer Harry Styles in Vienna on Saturday night. “But Wimbledon changed my plans. Anyone want to go? I’ve got two tickets,” she let her voice be heard on social media.
It’s questionable how she had it all planned, but she is undoubtedly happy for her sporting success. Maybe she can approach or equal her Wimbledon best.
On the WTA circuit, Svitolina has won 17 titles, dominating the 2018 Tournament of Champions, and two years after that she won bronze at the Olympics. But she is waiting for Grand Slam success in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
