Shakira leaned into Piqué in song! You traded your Ferrari for a Twingo, exercise your brain a little bit too

Shakira and Gerard Piqué have been one of the most famous couples in football for many years. The autumn break-up caused by several infidelities of the Spanish footballer left a deep wound in the Colombian singer. So she’s healing her grief with edgy songs.

The star couple met at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where Shakira sang the official song of the championship. The finalist with Spain, Gerard Pique, liked her so much that he contacted her after the tournament and they began to form a couple.

That was until the fall of 2022, when Piqué’s web of lies snapped. The Catalan footballer allegedly cheated on Shakira at every corner in Barcelona and made no effort to hide it, as he often visited Barcelona clubs with his younger teammates.

So it was only a matter of time before the star Colombian singer found out and broke up. That’s what happened, but it took more out of the South American darling than she probably expected. Even several months after the break-up, she can’t forget the “betrayal”, so she decided to write a poignant song dedicated to her ex-partner.

Together with the very popular DJ and music producer Bizarrap, who invites regular and rising stars to his sessions, they put together the song ‘Shakira::Brzp Music Sessions, Vol 53’. And it’s packed with Piqué references.

“Sorry, I’m on another flight, I’m not coming back here, I don’t want another disappointment,” Shakira begins her latest song. “You thought you were a champion and when I needed you, you showed the worst version of yourself,” goes another rhyme.

“A she-wolf like me is not for newbies, a she-wolf like me is not for dudes like you. It was too big for you, that’s why you’re now with a girl on the same level as you,” Shakira adds sharply.

“I’m not going back to you, even if you cry and beg. I understand it’s not my fault you’re being criticized, I’m just making music, sorry I splashed you,” sings Shakira, but here you need to know the context.

If anyone still thinks that the song is not aimed at Piqué, it is the last verse that adds to the reality. In Spanish, Shakira sings.

Ferrari for Twingo

“You thought you hurt me, but you made me stronger. “Women don’t cry anymore, women give the bill,” Shakira sings. And she’s gonna join Piqué in the chorus. “You’ve got a good name, as you can see, it’s not what it seems. She’s just like you, for guys like you, ” Shakira goes on.

“It’s one step from love to hate, don’t come back here, trust me. No hard feelings baby, I wish you well with my supposed replacement,” comes the next lyric and the fan favorite verse.

“You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo, you traded a Rolex for a Casio, you’re speeding up, slow down a little. You work out a lot in the gym, but exercise your brain a little too,” the Colombian singer adds.
