Inter Milan will be looking to pick up their first points in this season’s Champions League on Tuesday. Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine, who unexpectedly fell to the group’s outsiders in the first round, stand in their way.
Shakhtar started the Champions League group stage with an unexpected and embarrassing loss to Sheriff Tiraspol and have a lot to make up for. Shakhtar are second in the Ukrainian league, three points behind Dynamo Kiev.
Inter are also without a point in the world’s most-watched football competition, having lost at home to Real Madrid thanks to a late goal from youngster Rodrygo. In Serie A, they are much better off in third, just two points off 100th-placed Napoli.
Lassina Traoré is in the home attack, the skilful striker has already scored six league goals. Yukhym Konoplya and Mykhaylo Mudryk are the assistants, the former mentioned has provided four goals, the latter three.
Inter have two killers on the tip. Experienced Edin Džeko has scored five times, the significantly younger Lautaro Martinez has four shots. Midfielder Nicolo Barella, on the other hand, boasts five goal assists.
Shakhtar’s attack has been running like clockwork since the national break, averaging 2.8 goals per game. But the same can be said for Inter, who have scored at least two goals in six of their seven games this season.
Given Inter’s excellent form and the quality of their squad, I recommend betting on them to win.
