Shakhtar vs. Celtic: Preview and betting tips
Celtic will fight for their first Champions League group points on Wednesday when they visit Shakhtar Donetsk. What to expect from the Ukrainian champion against the Scottish champion and what to bet on?
Shakhtar have made an excellent start to the season. In the Champions League, they went 4-1 up against Leipzig in the opener, and on the league scene they have lost only two points in four rounds for a draw in the opening game. They are second in the table, only one point behind leaders Kovalivka.
Celtic are also on a roll, they are 100% in the Premiership after six rounds and have a five-point lead on second-placed Rangers. However, they lost to Real Madrid in the first round of the Champions League, on the other hand, they will fly to Ukraine rested, as even Scotland did not play at the weekend due to the death of Elizabeth II.
On the home side, striker Maryan Shved is doing well, the summer signing from Belgium has already scored three times. Talented Ukrainian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk has netted once and assisted three times.
Talented winger Liel Abada is firing for the visitors, the 20-year-old Israeli international has netted six goals and assisted once. Japan’s Kyogo Furuhashi is also doing well, the skilful winger has scored six times so far.
The home team relies on a solid defence, having scored just two goals in their last five games.
Celtic, on the other hand, are doing well away from home, having won their last four games.
Considering the form of the home defence and their big win against Leipzig a week ago, I expect Shakhtar not to lose.
