Seven goals from two football demigods in one night. Messi vs. Ronaldo and their never-ending battle
On Sunday 5.6. there were many football matches. Probably the most interesting for a Czech fan took place in Eden. Czech Republic took a very nice point after the duel with the favored Spain. The national teams of Portugal and Argentina also played that evening.
On Sunday 5.6. there were many football matches. Probably the most interesting for the Czech fan took place in Eden, the Czech Republic took a very nice point after the duel with the favored Spain. The national teams of Portugal and Argentina also took the field that evening.
In neither case was the biggest star missing without a doubt. Cristiano Ronaldo in the red jersey and Lionel Messi in the blue and white. Two of the biggest names in football in this century at least. The whole world has thus witnessed another battle between these rivals, albeit at a distance.
Together, the two have 17 league titles, 9 Champions League winners’ trophies, 5 UEFA Super Cups, 7 Club World Cup victories, each also once dominated their continental championship and more than 10 league cups to boot. Not forgetting 11 Ballon d’Ors.
CR7 led his team into the Nations League at home, against Switzerland. The home team won the match 4: 0 and scored 3 points, which put them in first place in Group 2.
Ronaldo scored three goals for the Portuguese. He scored two himself, assisted another and was finally prevented from completing his hat-trick by VAR in the 51st minute. Once again he was the biggest figure of the match, as we are used to him. He even made his mother cry with his performance.
Almost at the same time, the match between Argentina and Estonia was also played. The match was not a competitive one, but a friendly one. It was played on neutral ground, in Spain. If you are saying that you cannot compare competitive and friendly matches and their performances, you are probably right.
But Messi’s Argentina won 5-0 and the divine Leo scored all 5 goals. And that sounds interesting even in a friendly, doesn’t it?
Both fighters have once again shown that they are definitely getting ready for retirement and that a few bad days or weeks may not mean anything. The eternal arguing about who is better and who deserved which prize more is probably pointless. Above all, we should be glad that we can watch their magic shows with our own eyes, because not all generations are so lucky.
