Ševčík after losing to Cluj: A terrible shame! We have nothing, but we will play until the last round
The home game did not go as expected. Slavia was more active, but the only goal of the match was scored by the visiting Cluj, who took all three points to Romania. What did midfielder Petr Ševčík say after the unsuccessful match?
The home game did not go as expected. Slavia was more active, but the only goal of the match was scored by the visiting Cluj, who took all three points to Romania. What did midfielder Petr Ševčík say after the unsuccessful match?
Slavia were the favourites in their group after the draw, having drawn 1-1 with Sivaspor in their first match in Turkey. They then beat Ballkani 3:2 at home and the fans believed that another win would follow.
But that didn’t happen. The Sešivans were more active, but the visitors had the better chances and converted one of them. Rangelo Janga, to be precise, who fired Cluj’s first group stage win.
“A huge mistake for me. It wasn’t even a chance, it was a half-chance. We go to the corner flag to defend, then he kicks it in front of the goal and we get a goal. Itdefinitely didn’t help us get a goal in the dressing room,” said midfielder Petr Shevcik in an interview with the club website after the game.
After this unnecessary loss, Slavia has only four points, which was definitely not expected before the start. The other teams in Group G have the same number of points, so it is wide open.
“It’s a terrible pity for us, it’s three points lost that can make the difference. We have nothing, but we will play until the last round,” added the Slavia mainstay.
Susians will be able to make up for their failure in a week’s time when they travel to Romania for the rematch. “Next week we will play under pressure again, we will want to break their defence and win,” Ševčík finished.
