This weekend, the Italian Serie A finally returns to the scene and the new season will be even more interesting than the last one. Fiorentina are among the clubs that will want to have a bigger say in the game. The latter is returning to the European cups after five years and is looking very good. What can we expect from them?
The management team
Fiorentina are one of Italy’s most traditional teams, but they have not been at their best in recent years. Because of this, they have changed coaches frequently. A year ago, the team got Vincenzo Italiano and so far they are doing a great job.
Italiano got the club into Europe after a few years. In addition to that, the cell from beautiful Florence was able to play openly with anyone, competing with the best teams of the competition. Even after the departure of their star striker Dusan Vlahovic. Over the summer, the team was promoted in an interesting way. There’s a lot to look forward to.
Goalie
It’s going to be interesting at the goalkeeper position in Fiorentina. Bartlomiej Dragowski started last season as the unquestioned number one, but ended it as number two. Now he is apparently on his way out of the club. His replacement Pietro Terracciano finished the season.
In addition, Pierluigi Gollini, who proved his quality last time at Atalanta, arrived in Tuscany in the summer. He is expected to be Fiorentina’s new number one. But he’ll have to fight for a place. Terracciano has shown that he can catch in the top competition.
Defence
The defence will have a clearly defined four. Igor and Nikola Milenkovic will be the main duo at stopper. The left flank will be handled by captain Cristiano Biraghi, while the right side will belong to the new signing. Fiorentina have brought Brazilian Dodo from Shakhtar Donetsk.
It’s worth mentioning that all positions are definitely not doubled by Fiorentina. However, at stopper, in case of an emergency, he will be a quality substitute for Quart, while stopper Igor can play on the left side of the defence for a change.
Backup
Coach Italiano prides himself on a three-man midfield. This consists of one defensive shield and two more creative players. The main shield is the warrior Sofyan Amrabat, but he will now have competition in the form of Rolando Mandragora.
Gaetano Castrovilli will be a key player in the midfield, however he will be missing until October due to injury. Szymon Zurkowski should try to replace his offensive qualities. The experienced Giacomo Bonaventura will also play his part. Youssef Maleh will want to take him out of the line-up.
Attack
Fiorentina’s attack was still led by Dusan Vlahovic in the first half of last season. In the winter, despite the arrival of Brazilian Cabral, he could not be replaced and the results showed it. But in the summer, the Tuscan side brought in Luka Jovic, who had a shooting spell at Frankfurt. Until recently, he was described as a great talent. If he can get back into it, he’ll be a big boost.
Nicolas Gonzalez will complement Jovic on the left, while Jonathan Ikoné will most likely start on the right. However, he will have to fight for a spot due to low productivity. Saponara and Sottile will want to take him out of the lineup.
Ideal line-up
Gollini
Dodo – Milenkovic – Igor – Biraghi
Castrovilli – Amrabat – Bonaventura
Ikoné – Jovic – González
Positioning tip:: 7th place
