Spanish defender Sergio Ramos moved to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer after his contract at Real Madrid ended. However, due to injury, he has not played a single game so far and the Parisian club’s management is considering terminating his contract.
The Real Madrid legend had to quit the club where he had worked for 16 long years at the end of June 2021 as the management refused to renew his contract. Ramos has thus become a free agent and the Paris club has expressed interest in his services.
Paris Saint-Germain were very interested in the services of the Spanish defender and eventually both parties also agreed on the terms of the contract. Thus, Ramos signed a contract valid until the end of the 2022/23 season in the summer and became a player in a star-studded team.
Initially, Paris were delighted to have acquired such a big name. However, over time the optimism began to wane as Ramos was still unable to recover enough to start for his new club.
Moreover, PSG’s medical team came up with the fact that Ramos has several problems with his knee and also his calf, which is why he has been and will be out for some time. Thus, because of the nagging injuries, there are concerns whether the experienced stopper will still return to play at the highest level.
That is why, according to L’Equipe, PSG’s management has begun to consider whether to terminate the Spaniard’s two-year contract. Ramos could end up in Paris before he has played a single game.
Before joining PSG, Ramos played only 21 games last season. His health is not at its best, which is probably why Real Madrid did not want to take the risk of offering him a multi-year contract.
Ramos is a fantastic defender, but injuries are erratic. The chances of him returning to the highest level are still there, but no one knows when or if it will happen.
However, the Spanish football legend has won the European Championship twice in his career, the World Cup, the Spanish league five times and has led his Real Madrid to the Champions League four times. A player with such achievements is simply a good fit for the team!
