The quarter-final matches of the European Cups are over and the four Czech players Adam Hložek, Antonín Barák, Tomáš Souček and Vladimír Coufal are celebrating. Who can they look forward to in the fight for the final?
After the Champions League, the quarter-final matches of the Europa League and the European Conference League have been played. In the latter, we were able to cheer on the Czech footballers, all of whom are celebrating their progress!
First we look at the Europa League, where we had a representative in Adam Hložek.Bayer only drew in the opening match, but won 4:1 at the Royale Union SG stadium.
The Czech striker assisted Mitchell Bakker’s first goal, and scored a goal from the rebound. In the semi-final, Leverkusen will face AS Rome, who defeated Feyenoord 4-1 in extra time.
In the ECL, Antonín Barák was the first to go, more precisely his Fiorentina. The latter won 4:1 in Lech, Poland, and it seemed like a mere formality.
But that was a big mistake. In Italy, Lech were 3-0 up and it was going to be an interesting extra time. But Fiorentina reduced the score to 2: 3 in the 78th and 92nd minutes. Basel awaits Fiorentina in the semi-finals.
Last but not least, West Ham played a rematch in London and only drew 1-1 at Genk. The Belgians took the lead after less than half an hour of play.
But West Ham soon equalised and added three more goals in the second half, allowing the Hammers to look forward to Alkmaar in the Netherlands. Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek played the whole game, their performance can be assessed as average.
