Barbora Krejcikova did not play well in the quarter-finals of the tournament in Hamburg and lost to Russia’s Potapova 0:2 in sets. The former world number three struggled especially on her own serve.

The Brno native entered the match as a slight favourite, but she struggled from the start of the match. In the first set, she did not hold a single serve and after 29 minutes she was down 0:1 in sets.

Unfortunately, Krejcikova continued her performance in the second set, holding only one serve. Potapova was able to take advantage of the Moravian tennis player’s mistakes and outplayed Krejcikova 3:6 in the second set.

Barbora Krejcikova lost the match mainly on serve, holding only one serve out of eight. On the other hand, she offered her opponent eleven break points, which she used.

Anastasia Potapova outplayed her opponent with her aggressive play and reached the semifinals of the clay tournament in Hamburg. Here she will face the tournament’s number one Kontaveit.

Barbora Krejcikova, on the other hand, is still recovering from her elbow injury and is slowly moving down the rankings. She is currently ranked 19th.

The Czech Republic has one more representative in Hamburg, Katerina Siniakova. She will play her quarter-final match against American Pera.
