Harry Kane secured another three points against Wolves to put Tottenham top of the Premier League. He also broke Sergio Agüero’s record for the most goals by a single club with his 185th league goal. However, it was not an easy game for Antonio Conte’s charges, which makes the three points all the more pleasing.

The first half was a fairly even game, with the difference that Wolves players, unlike their opponents, did not mess around so much and tried to threaten Hugo Lloris’ goal more, but no shot from different positions was accurate and both teams went to the booths goalless.

After the break, however, the home side stepped up and Kane could have opened the scoring in the 51st minute when he headed Dejan Kulevski’s centre into the crossbar. A few minutes later, Heung-Min Son found himself in front of the Wolves goalkeeper, but his shot was blocked.

The Korean striker then hit the bar, and in the 64th minute Spurs fans were finally able to celebrate a goal after a corner and Ivan Perisic’s overtime, which was headed into the net by Kane, who celebrated his 185th league goal.

Bruno Lage then sent one player after another onto the field, but no one could reverse the defeat. Wolves confirmed once again that the problem is not the performance, but the efficiency, when especially in the first half they had chances from which to score.

On the other hand, Tottenham’s defenders did not let them into any clear-cut chances and with a team performance they celebrate three points that will surely carry a lot of weight at the end of the season.

Wolves will not be easy to beat despite their poor results and it is to be expected that once they improve their game and start scoring goals, they will take points from the top teams.

According to Whoscored, the highest rated player of the game was not Kane (7.2 rating) but Rubén Neves (7.3 rating), but the Englishman’s goal meant three points, just as in the last game against Chelsea he secured a point for Spurs at the end of the game.

In the next round, Wolves will try to register their first win this Premier League season against Newcastle, while Tottenham will measure their strength against Nottingham.
