Scott McTominay one of Manchester United’s best jokers! Who was better?
Scott McTominay is undergoing a change under Erik ten Hague. From the position of a defensive midfielder, he is pushing more and more towards the opponent’s goal during Manchester United’s attacking forays, even to the position of a spike striker, especially as a substitute. He has even managed to score a few goals and is slowly becoming one of the best Manchester United midfielders in history.

Scott McTominay
When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge of the Old Trafford team, McTominay, along with Fred and Paul Pogba, formed the central trio of which he was the most defensive. Fans, as well as club legends, often blamed the Scottish player for hiding behind the opposing teammate, thus his teammates could not get the ball to him. But after the arrival of Casemiro, he definitely lost his position in the middle of the pitch.
Ten Hag came up with something that nobody seemed to expect. He deployed McTominay as a substitute even at the top of the attack. The Scotsman rewarded him with 2 goals against Brentford and he also decided the last game at Villa Park. As a substitute he has already scored 7 goals and is one of the club’s most successful jokers.
Javier Hernández
The Mexican striker, who is known to most fans as Chicharito, has been on a rampage as a substitute under Sir Alex Ferguson. It was almost impossible to break into the starting line-up through players like Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov or Robin van Persie.
He has 17 goals from his position as a joker. Fans were particularly impressed by the spectacular turnaround against Aston Villa, when the Red Devils were 0-2 down at half-time. Chicharito came on in the second half and scored a hat-trick to turn the game around. A few weeks ago, the Mexican striker returned to his native Chivas, where he is likely to conclude his rich career.
Marcus Rashford
An English winger most of you probably wouldn’t expect to see on this list. But Rashford is the 2nd most goal scoring joker in the entire history of Manchester United. Although he’s featured more or less unchallenged in the starting lineup in recent years, he shone as a joker in his early days among the adults.
As a substitute, the Englishman can liven up a game and wake up his teammates. With his 128 goals scored for United, 25 of them have come as a substitute. Almost a fifth of Rashford’s goals have come as a substitute. If the England winger comes off the bench more often than he does in the starting lineup, he will one day be the top scorer of goals from the substitute position.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United fans will not be surprised to see this name at the very top. It was the Norwegian striker who made the club’s history unforgettably. When he decided the 1999 Champions League final against Bayern Munich with a goal in injury time.
Solskjaer was a player that Ferguson deployed primarily as a substitute and the Norwegian rewarded him for it. He scored an incredible 29 goals as a joker and no one seemed to come close. It’s safe to say that Solskjaer has left an indelible legacy behind him. And even if someone manages to break his record, fans will always remember him.
