The Scots failed to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar in the spring, but have subsequently made a good start to the Nations League. After a home win over Armenia, they blew up in Ireland, but managed to respond with a big 4-1 win on Armenian soil.
Ukraine is the only selection in this group that has not lost yet, winning twice and drawing once in three matches. They are first in the table, but have only a one-point lead over the second-placed Scots.
The Scots should be led in attack by Che Adams, who has already scored four goals for Southampton. Kieran Tierney is getting into decent form in an Arsenal jersey, especially in the absence of the injured Andrew Robertson he will be important.
Ukraine is looking forward to Mykhaylo Mudryk, the Shakhtar Donetsk talent has a 2+2 record in the Champions League after two rounds. Midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi has helped Atalanta to great performances in Serie A, scoring and assisting once.
The home side’s defence has been working well in the Nations League so far, only conceding once apart from the blunder against the Irish.
And Ukraine are doing even better. In three matches they have scored only once, and in the last twelve games they have only caught the ball in the net eight times.
Considering the well-functioning defences of both teams and the fact that Ukraine’s strikers have not shone too much from the start of the season, I think that both teams will not score in this match.
