Scotland qualify for the barrage from second place in a group with Denmark, Austria, Israel, Faroe Islands and Moldova. They only dropped seven points with one loss to the Danes and draws against Austria and Israel.
Ukraine squeaked into the barrage despite winning only two games in the five-team group. With 12 points, it was only just better than Finland, leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kazakhstan behind. Only France was better.
The home side stand on the performance of captain Andrew Robertson, the Liverpool left back scored three times and assisted fifteen times. In the centre of the midfield we find the Premier League pairing of John McGinn, Scott McTominay.
Roman Yaremchuk is the mainstay of the Ukraine, this season he has a record of nine goals and six assists for Benfica Lisbon. Midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi has made ten appearances for Atalanta and added seven goal assists.
Scotland have done well since the Euros, winning six of their last eight games, with the other two ending in draws.
Ukraine, on the other hand, have not fared too well, winning only three of their last eight games, and missing the April national team meeting due to the Russian invasion.
Given Scotland’s form and the bad mood in the away team’s cabin caused by the war situation in their home country, I think Scotland will advance.
