Scotland is alive with the Battle of Glasgow! Ahead of the cup final, a chant of Celtic fans to the tune of the legendary O-Zone hit was played on BBC radio
It’s been a year since O-Zone’s Dragoste Din Tei was at least a European hit. However, the tune of this song is still to be heard at Celtic Park and wherever Celtic Glasgow fans go. Now their chorus has been played before the derby with Rangers on BBC Radio 5 Live.

The song Dragoste Din Tei was a huge hit at the time of its release. It was played everywhere, all the time. Football fans, specifically Celtic Glasgow supporters, decided to use the catchy tune and turned it into a football chant.
It is not called Dragoste Din Tei, of course, but Jota on the Wing. It is a celebratory chant dedicated to the Scottish giant’s current star, Portuguese winger Jota.
Jota has been at Celtic since the summer of 2021. He first arrived only on loan from Portuguese side Benfica, however, a year later he has already moved to the club permanently and the fans are enjoying his involvement to the max.
And no wonder. During his time in Scotland he put up solid numbers in 70 games, scoring 22 goals and assisting a further 27.
Now, moreover, Scotland is alive with the Battle of Glasgow as Celtic and Rangers take on each other at Hampden Park on the occasion of the Scottish Cup Final. It’s expected to be a huge game. It is the only chance for Rangers to grab the trophy as Celtic are unlikely to catch up in the league.
And that’s why the game is being covered in the media all over the UK. For example, on BBC Radio 5 Live, where the aforementioned chorus was performed acoustically by singer Ellie Dixon.
Among other things, the English singer offered to make her version of the chorus into a song to be released if it caught on.
The Battle of Glasgow will take place on Sunday at 4pm.
