Schumacher has been missed for 10 years, not just by F1 fans. Not much is still known about his condition after the crash, much has been suggested by Netflix
Today, Friday 29 December 2023, is exactly ten years since Michael Schumacher was injured while skiing in Meribel, France. Even after all these years, the general public has almost no official information about his condition. So everyone can only hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Ten years. An incredibly long time has passed since the Michael Schumacher skiing incident. You might have expected that if any serious injury was to come, it would be in a Formula One car. On the other hand, just when “Schumi” was driving the Ferrari car and racing to another victory, he seemed unbreakable.
Schumacher took his family skiing, and his then 14-year-old son Mick was with him. It was originally supposed to be a pleasant afternoon, but the opposite was true.
As everyone knows by now, Schumacher suffered an incident that day that would never be the same. While his helmet saved his life after hitting his head, the impact was so severe that it damaged the helmet itself.
Schumacher was taken to hospital in Grenoble after the incident. There he was operated on and put into a state of artificial sleep to reduce the swelling in his brain. Needless to say, fans of the queen of motorsport were anxiously awaiting news of his condition.
But to date, not much has been announced. In 2014, it was reported that Schumacher was no longer in a coma and had been rushed to the University Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland. In September of that year, Schumacher returned to his family home to continue his treatment.
Schumacher is alive, but how does he feel?
This is exactly the question that logically comes to mind for all fans of not only Schumacher, but of Formula One as a whole. As we write above, not much information has come from his home since then. His family does not want the legend’s health to be publicised. Quite understandably.
However, that’s not the most important thing. Objectively, we can say that it’s good that Schumacher’s family is almost media silent on the matter. After all, it was one of Michael’s wishes that he would one day like to simply walk away from all the attention and pressure.
Fans have so far been able to glean the most from a documentary released by Netflix two years ago. The latter has hinted at a lot and has also provided a statement from his family.
“Of course I miss Michael every day. But it’s not just me who misses him – the kids, the family, his father, everyone around him. But he’s still here. It’s different, but he’s here, and that’s what gives us strength, I find,” his wife Corinna said in the documentary.
