Ronaldo’s departure from Manchester United has aroused great passions in the football world. Especially club legend Paul Scholes did not mince his words on social media. “Mission accomplished,” he said about Ronaldo’s departure.
In a recent interview, Cristiano Ronaldo spared no criticism and burned all the bridges that still connected him to Manchester United. Thus, the club immediately began talks about the immediate termination of cooperation with the Portuguese footballer.
And on Tuesday evening, the announcement of Ronaldo’s departure actually came. Manchester stated this on their website. The statement itself was very brief, and the club also included a paragraph praising the work of coach ten Hag.
That Hag is the man with whom Ronaldo had the biggest problem. This, too, shows how unwanted Ronaldo was at the end of his time at the club.
Not surprisingly, the announcement of Ronaldo’s end at Manchester United has sparked conflicting emotions. Some are saddened by the loss of a club legend, while others are happy to clear the air at the club.
Even Paul Scholes, a legendary player who lived through Manchester’s best days, was quick to react. “Mission accomplished! ” he celebrated on his Instagram profile.
Scholes realised the inappropriateness of his statement and deleted the post a few hours later. In the meantime, however, it had already started making the rounds on social media.
Paul Scholes is one of the players Ronaldo had a problem with. For weeks there were shootouts over the media, with strained relations with Garry Neville and Wayne Rooney in addition to him.
“I don’t know why he keeps criticising me so much…probably because he has retired and I am still playing at a high level. I’m not going to say I look better than him. Which is true,” Ronaldo, for example, has said in the past in his own style about Rooney.
