Leverkusen are having a relatively successful season. They are in third place in the Bundesliga, which guarantees qualification for the Champions League group stage. However, it will have to continue to pick up points regularly, as there are few competitors.
The Bundesliga season in particular has been a turning point for Bayer in several respects. After halfway through the season, Bayern had the most goals scored in its history, with Czech striker Patrik Schick of course playing a big part.
The Sparta Prague native has carried his excellent form from the Euros to the club scene as well, scoring 18 goals in 17 games in the Bundesliga and adding three assists.
The Czech international’s name has been linked with transfers to clubs such as Barcelona and Manchester City. However, a move to a rival team, namely Borussia Dortmund, is also in the cards. Seoane, however, disagrees.
“Our job is to ensure that Leverkusen players don’t consider moving to a direct rival like Dortmund. I believe Patrik would think twice about this transfer. I don’t think it would be a big move for him,” Seoane expressed in an interview with Sport Bild.
The Leverkusen coach also added that everyone in the team feels that something big is looming. Bayer wants to continue to strengthen instead of weakening to be as competitive as possible.
Can it reach the level of Dortmund or even Bayern?
